Ringconn Gen 2 beats Oura Ring in battery life, personalization, support, and more

Updated on:

Here are 6 features that surprised me about the Ringconn Gen 2 Smart Ring:

1. The battery life is out of this world

After receiving my ring, I wore it for a straight month without charging. The only reason I finally charged it was because the user manual recommends charging the ring after fifteen days, otherwise, the ring was still alive and well.

When paired with the portable charging case (providing up to 18 full recharge), the Ringconn Gen 2 lasts for more than 150 days of continuous use.

The Ringconn battery life is amazing right now and I am curious to see how it holds up over the next few years.

2. Ringconn listens to feature requests

Ringconn frequently announces software updates to their Facebook group. Their Reddit group is very active with users and the occasional Ringconn staff member. Reddit users are constantly posting feature requests, questions, and post-update gripes.

Regardless of the channel, the support team is tuned into users feature requests, likes, and dislikes.

Here’s a recent example of Ringconn’s response to a user’s feature request:

Of course, they don’t accommodate all user requests into their development roadmap—and the roadmap is not public like some products—but they try to communicate their plans:

3. The Ringconn Gen 2 improves with time

In the three and half months since I got my ring, these are the features updates that have been added. I have seen multiple requests for most of these features in the Ringconn subreddit.

• Find My Ring including light activation for easy identification in dark settings.

• Indoor cycling (currently, the options include indoor/outdoor running, outdoor cycling, and outdoor walking)

• Ability to attach a note to any day

• Italian language option

That may not sound like much, but how many devices with no subscription fee add this many features to their software in less than four months?

4. Helpful technical support

One of my pet peeves is buying something and finding out that their customer service is a useless chatbot.

Ringconn makes it easy to get the support you need. It’s almost as if they want you to contact them. 🤔

Here is the support screen in the Ringconn app:

According to a Ringconn super user on Reddit, the” Feedback” section of the app goes straight to the developers.

This doesn’t surprise me because the responses I received so far were helpful and to the point.

Here are my three interactions with Ringconn through the “Feedback” section of the app. All responses were returned within 48 hours, as promised on their website.

My first message was related to integration with Apple Health because I wasn’t seeing my sleep data in my Apple Health app.

Indeed, there was a delay, and then the data appeared in Apple Health.

My second message was related to the step count on Ringconn vs Apple Health.

The Ringconn Gen 2 step count is still consistently higher than my Apple Health reading, but I can’t confirm which one is correct.

My third message was about nap detection. The Ringconn Gen2 didn’t appear to be logging any of my naps.

I later noticed that sometimes a nap would cause the app would pop up a message confirming whether I wanted the it to be logged. Sometimes the nap gets logged automatically.

Naps under 15 minutes continued to be overlooked. Short, light sleep is difficult to detect and is a challenge that all the sleep rings on the market experience.

5. Realistic and Personalized Goals

One annoying thing about my old Oura Ring Gen 2 was that the baseline sleep was set in stone at 8 hours. That meant that if you slept less than 8 hours, in the app’s eyes, you failed to meet your sleep goal.

Ringconn has a flexible and realistic view of health and recognizes that people have different sleep requirements. The app allows users to set a bedtime range and target hours of sleep per night and your personalized settings are used to calculate your sleep score.

6. Helpful customer service

In November 2024, the postal service here in Canada went on strike, and for weeks, my Ringconn was waiting to be picked up from Richmond, BC. That is a twenty-minute drive from my house. I contacted customer service to ask them whether they would consider changing carriers since there was no foreseeable resolution to the strike.

Their response came the following day. They offered to switch to DHL which would cost an additional $15 and might be subject to additional import fees. I had hope that the strike would end soon because Christmas was fast approaching, so I declined their offer. But one thing I didn’t consider was the enormous backlog that Canada Post would have once the strike ended.

Shortly after my inquiry, the ring showed up on my doorstep, fulfilled by a private carrier. Ringconn footed the bill for a new carrier without further prompting from me, and without additional fees.

Living in Canada, my bar for customer service is low, so when Ringconn offered an alternative to shipping, regardless of cost, I was already impressed.

Some Reddit users have complained about receiving unhelpful, chatbot-like responses from customer service but my experience has been positive so far.

Of all the surprise features of the Ringconn Gen 2, the number one feature is that because of frequent updates, your ring will have more functionality and enhancements in a matter of months, not years, and you won’t have to spend a single dollar.
